There are many health issues facing women today. That one that always comes to mindfirst and hits hard is breast cancer. Everyday moms, aunts, grandmothers, teachers, doctors, librarians, students, daughter's nieces, etc are diagnosed with a possibly terminal disease and that is breast cancer. My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was in junior high school, she went through the treatment and was declared in remission only for the cancer to come back 2 years later, she eventually loss her battle with cancer and died my freshmen year of school. This heath issue is a major concern to me, since my mother had breast cancer I am at a higher risk of also being diagnosed with the same problem. So in order to prevent this I have to have regular check ups since the age of 18. I don't really worry about this everyday, in the meantime I do all I can for the continued research of hopefully one day finding its cure, I volunteer for almost every breast cancer event and do all I can for the breast cancer awareness especially in my home community.
Another problem facing women today is birth control. Currently government is trying to close down as many Planned Parenthoods as possible and ban the women's right to choose. I have huge concerns with this and how unwanted children will affect the nation, not now, but as time progresses on. I strongly believe that the Emergency Contraceptive Pill should be made available over the counter so people that don't have access to a doctor's prescription for whatever reason that may be will have to opportunity to hopefully prevent an unwanted pregnancy without having to look to other resources. I also feel that women should have the right to terminate an unwanted pregnancy, no one but that woman has the right that they can or can't do what's in their own interest. These in my opinion are the greatest health concerns to women today.
