I have chosen managing conflict and disagreement for my effective communication paper.My reasoning for choosing this topic is to see if I can obtain knowledge in resolve some conflicts and disagreements within my workplace.
I am the supervisor of the educational assistants on my job.Some of my employees are new and some have been with the company for awhile.I am finding myself not wanting to micromanage, but I am being put in the positionof having to micromanage.The employees that have been with the company for awhile have decided to do as they please and not follow the given guidelines that have been set in place.They are alsotrying to persuade the new employees to follow their bad habits.I believe that it is very important to handle this situation with a very firm butcareful resolution.
I know that how we communicate as a team will have a great impact on the outcome of handling conflict and disagreement among the team.I am willing to make the decisions to manage conflict and disagreement through gaining the knowledge thatI need to be productive in this area.
On my job I am currently dealing with a situtation that is causing conflict between the new staff and the old staff.Everyone has been giving very specific instructions on what their job duties are along with what is expected of them.The staff that hasbeen with the company for a long period of time is having a hard time adjusting the expectations that are set before them.They have chosen to try and persuade the new staff to their way of thinking and not to the current examples that have been laid before them.In the beginning I was very upset with what was happening and it cause me to lose focus on what my goal and purpose was for the team.This caused me to shut down and walk away from the situation without letting the team know what was going on with me.
