Persuasive essay Global warming

Did you know climate change is the biggest environmental danger that the earth faces today? Recently, there has been a lot of attention drawn to global warming, the gradual heating of Earths surface temperature. I believe global warming is occurring because of human activities and that it is serious topic that must be addressed. There are still many debates over the causes of global warming or even if it exists. Once you have read my reasons, I am sure you will agree that global warming is an important issue that must be confronted.
A common argument is over whether global warming is occurring because of pollution or by natural causes. There are many factors such as burning fossil fuels, deforestation, and an increase in the use of transportation that have contributed to global warming. Burning fossil fuels has played an important role in the escalating temperatures because they release carbon dioxide. Along with other green-house gasses, carbon dioxide traps heat in the atmosphere. This action contributes to the green-house effect and recent boosts in temperatures. Carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has increased by thirty-one percent since the 1800s. Deforestation and the growing use of transportation have also played a direct part in the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide is consumed by plants. The depletion of forests produces an unnatural quantity of carbon dioxide in the environment. In addition, other countries such as India and China are developing and consuming more fossil fuels for transportation. In other words, human activities have a large influence on global warming.

Of course, skeptics argue that global warming is a natural phenomenon and that there is no need for alarm. People who use this argument point out that there have been temperature changes throughout Earths history. Although this is a valid point, recent evidence proves that an increase in temperatures results in higher levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. As a result, the increase of pollution causes elevated carbon dioxide levels and leads to ascending temperatures.

Already, global warming has taken a dramatic toll on the environment. In the last century, the average climate has and will continue to increase. Consequently, with the change in climate polar ice caps have melted. In fact, 400,000 square miles of Arctic sea ice have melted in the past thirty years. Unfortunately, the effects of global warming will become more severe. Scientists predict that global warming will trigger a rise in sea level, more intense heat waves, and hurricanes. However, some politicians are taking notice. Barack Obama stated Today we’re seeing that climate change is about more than a few unseasonably mild winters or hot summers.
In this essay I have argued that global warming poses a significant risk to the environment. Also, I have given examples of the causes and effects of global warming. This is why I believe that global warming deserves more attention and that the human race should unite to confront this life-threatening issue. How would you feel if the human race was the cause of their downfall?
